Edo 2020: Phillip Shaibu Wins Polling Unit with Wide Margin

  Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, has polled 401 votes in his polling unit by 401 votes as against the All Progressives Congress’s 148 votes in today’s Governorship election. He earlier voted at Ward 11, polling unit 5 of Etsako West LGA where he addressed his supporters to remain calm and allow the rule of law to prevail. In another polling unit close to that of the Deputy Governor, the PDP also polled 131 to win its closest rival, APC which polled 65. Shortly after the results were announced, supporters of the PDP took to the streets to celebrate. Mr. Shaibu who later returned to the scene to thank his supporters met elated youths who chanted, “you are a leader. You are a leader.” More results are trickling in as INEC continues collation.

Edo 2020: PDP Wins Oyegun’s Polling Unit

  Governor Godwin Obaseki, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Edo gubernatorial election has been confirmed to have secured the highest number of votes cast at polling unit 02, ward 002, Oredo local government area, on Saturday. In the result released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Obaseki polled 109 votes to defeat his closest rival Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of the APC who garnered 40 votes. Sudan Set to Begin Trial of Former President, Al-Bashir Over Role in 1989 Coup

The trial of Omar al-Bashir, Sudan’s former president is set to begin today, Tuesday 21 July, over his role in the military coup that brought about his regime in 1989. Al-Bashir who is already in detention for corruption charges could be sentenced to death if he is found guilty of the new charge The 76-year-old will be tried alongside 16 other accused persons in Khartoum. Lagos State Prepared to Provide Quality Education to all Residents

The Lagos State Government will be supporting secondary schools established by the military formation across the State to increase access to education for residents. The move was disclosed on Wednesday by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu while receiving the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major-General Olu Irefin, on a courtesy visit at the State House in Marina.
