Ondo 2020: NSCDC Deploys Sniffer Dogs, 7,079 Personnel

  The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 7,079 personnel, sniffer dogs, alongside mobile surveillance vans to ensure security during the governorship election holding in Ondo State on Saturday. Ahead of the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State, candidates of political parties expected to participate in the poll have signed a peace accord. The Peace Accord was signed in Akure, Ondo State capital on Tuesday. According to the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), the accord was to ensure a violence-free election. Ondo 2020: No Plans to Form Alliance with ZLP, Says PDP

  The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has dismissed reports circulating in mainstream media that it planned to merge with the Zenith Labour Party and compromise the candidature of its governorship standard-bearer, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede. The party debunked the reports in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Kennedy Peretei, on Saturday. According to a statement released yesterday by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said the Z-pad could compromise voter accreditation process while describing it as unreliable.   The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has replaced the over 5000 card readers destroyed by fire at its Akure office last month. The Commission's Chairman, Prof Mammud Yakubu, disclosed this in a chat with newsmen on Wednesday in Akure during his three days working visit to Ondo State.
