Ighalo Wins West Asia Player Of The Month Award

Super Eagles returnee Odion Ighalo has won the West Asia player of the month of October after his impressive performance for his Saudi Arabia club, Al-Shabab. Al-Shabab confirmed the win on their Instagram page before the Nigerian international also reshared on his social media pages. Ighalo has scored nine goals in 11 league games for Al-Shabab this season, with four coming in October. Recall that Ighalo was recalled to the Super Eagles for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde later this month by Gernot Rohr, more than two years after he retired from international football. Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has not foreclosed the possibility of ‘retired’ striker Odion Ighalo to return to the squad after he teamed up with Saudi Arabian side Al –Shabab. The 31-year-old Ighalo called it quit with international football after helping the Super Eagles to win bronze at the 2019 Africa Cup of nations in Egypt. Former Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, has announced his departure from Manchester United. He made the announcement in an emotional farewell message posted on his social media handles. In the message, the prolific striker said it was hard to leave Old Trafford, saying it was a pleasure to play for the Manchester club. The 31-year-old striker’s loan from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua expires at the end of this month. The Nigeria international joined United in January last year on an initial six-month deal that was later extended to 12 months.
