Buhari Grants IGP Three Months Tenure Extension – Dingyadi

President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the tenure of Mohammed Adamu as the Inspector-General of Police for three months, the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammad Dingyadi has disclosed. Uncertainty Greets Police Hierarchy as IGP’s Tenure Ends Today  

There is palpable confusion among the Hierarchy of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, as the tenure of the Inspector-General of Police, Abubakar Adamu expires on Monday (today) while President Muhammadu Buhari has failed to convene a meeting of the Nigeria Police Council for the past 21 months. Though Adamu who has reached the mandatory retirement age is billed to leave office, the silence from the Presidency and failure of the council to meet are giving confusing signals in the police. Bye-elections: Police Impose Movement Restriction in Parts of Lagos, Imo, Plateau Others

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have restricted movement in 36 local government areas across 11 states where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is organising bye-elections on Saturday, 5th December 2020. Muyiwa Adejobi, Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, on Friday said there will be restriction of movement from 6 am to 6 pm in Somolu, Kosofe, Epe, Ikorodu, and Ibeju-Lekki LGAs in the state. Adejobi had in a tweet said, “Lagos-East senatorial election, no movement between 6 am and 6 pm of Saturday, December 5, 2020. New Police Unit, SWAT to Replace Disbanded SARS – IGP

Former SARS operatives to undergo psychological examination As a follow up to the disbandment of the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS),  the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has approved the formation of a new unit to replace the scrapped police unit of the Nigeria Police Force.. The IGP said that the force has introduced Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) to replace the disbanded SARS. Police spokesman, Frank Mba disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that personnel of the defunct police unit were to report at the force headquarters for medical screening.
