Position of Northern Elder’s Forum, a Mere Irritant and Featherweight – Presidency

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President has in a statement today referred to the position of the Norther Elders' Forum as "a mere irritant and featherweight." This statement was released in response to an earlier statement released by the forum in which it stated that the President had failed the North. This was referencing the daily killings by armed bandits suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen being recorded in different parts of the North. Northern Elders’ Forum Blasts Buhari, Says He Has Failed the North

The Northern Elders' Forum led by Professor Ango Abdullahi has in a statement decried the spate of killings that have overtaken the North, leading to a daily loss of lives. In his statement, Abdullahi noted among other things that the North had never had a security problem this bad and that all the President did was issue threats and warnings to no effect. He therefore said that the President had woefully failed to address the welfare and security of citizens. Nigeria: Buhari’s Re-election will not Help Nigeria’s Cause – Northern Elder’s Forum

The northern elder's forum has declared that re-electing the incumbent president Muhammodu Buhari will not help Nigeria's cause. Making this announcement, the chairman of the forum, Professor Ango Abdullahi said that the forum has decided to back a different candidate in the forth coming presidential elections. He noted that the forum cannot be blamed for their decision as it was obvious to all that he, Buhari was not in control, a fact which was confirmed by his wife.
