FG Approves Extension of New Electricity Tariffs Suspension by One Week  

The Federal Government and the organised labour yesterday agreed to extend the suspension of the new electricity tariffs by one week. The decision was reached on Sunday during a meeting between the FG team and the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress. Recall that the government had on September 28 postponed the implementation of the new tariffs by two weeks to its review by the technical committee after a meeting with organised labour, which kicked against the spike in petroleum and electricity prices. Varsity Workers Won’t be Cowed into Enrolling on IPPIS – ASUU Tells FG

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), accused the Federal Government of engaging in blackmail of its workers into enrolling on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS). Dr Austen Sado, Chairman of the University of Port Harcourt Branch of ASUU, on Sunday said members of the union will not be pushed into enrolling on IPPIS despite some of its members not being paid salaries since February. Sado spoke in reaction to the order stopping the salaries of university workers who are yet to enroll on IPPIS. Socio-Economic and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Rt Hon Patricia Scotland, to hold Nigerian authorities to account for persistent attacks on protesters demanding for an end to SARS. The group criticised many reports of human rights abuses and violations in Nigeria by security operatives. This was disclosed in a letter to Scotland by Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP’s Deputy Director who asked for suspension of Nigeria from the Commonwealth as a measure to induce the government to respect the values of human rights, transparency, accountability and the rule of law, Vanguard reports. Ondo Decides: Akeredolu Tops as INEC Declares Results from 15 LGAs

Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has maintained the lead in the Ondo State governorship election as results from 15 out of 18 Local Governments are announced. This is according to results announced by the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission at its collation centre in Akure. Candidate of the APC, Akeredolu won in 12 LGAs while Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled the highest votes in three LGAs. The candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), and Deputy governor of the state, is yet to win any LGA. Ondo Election: Governor AKeredolu Leads After INEC Declared Results From 12 Local Governments

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has garnered the most votes cast in the Ondo State governorship election after Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared results from 12 local government areas collation centres. The incumbent governor leads his main opponent, Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP with a margin of above 81,000 votes. The candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP),  Agboola Ajayi, occupies the third spot. Results declared so far shows that Akeredolu who is seeking a second third in office so far has 189,489 votes while Jegede has 108,195 votes in the election.

He said the N13.08 trillion 2021 budget proposal contravened the Fiscal Responsibility Act. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos State has pardoned Nollywood actress, Mrs Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bello, who were both arrested and detained over breach of COVID-19 lockdown regulations.
