FG To Toll Second Niger Bridge – Fashola

Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Works and Housing, has stated that the temporarily opened Second Niger Bridge will be tolled. Fashola said that the bridge will be tolled to help make sure that the infrastructure is maintained to serve for several years. The Minister disclosed this during an interview with Channel Television’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday. He added that the delay in delivering the project was due to the relocation of transmission lines connecting the East to the West across the Niger River and the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra. An Abuja federal high court has turned down an application by the Department of State Services, DSS, seeking to arrest and detain the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele. The chief judge, Justice JT Tsoho, while declining the motion ex parte – filed in the absence of the respondent, said that the secret police lacked concrete evidence to prove its claims that Emefiele was involved in terrorism financing and economic crimes. The World Bank has cautioned that the newly redesigned naira notes may have a negative impact on economic activity in the country, especially on poor Nigerians and small-scale businesses. Gunmen have set ablaze the magistrate court in Owerri, Imo State capital on Sunday afternoon. Reports say that no life was lost in the incident. The incident could not be confirmed by the Imo police spokesperson, Michael Abattam, as he did not respond to calls and messages when contacted. NAF Rescues Seven Chinese After Six Months In Captivity

The Nigerian Air Force Special Forces under the 271 Detachment in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State has freed seven Chinese workers abducted by suspected Bandits in Niger State. The Chinese expatriates were abducted in June while working at a mining site. This was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, on Saturday, noting that they were freed after a search-and-rescue mission by operatives.
