South-West Abuses Drug Most in Nigeria – NDLEA Boss

Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.) Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has said that the South-West and South-South rank top on the list of drug abuse cases in Nigeria. Marwa stated that there is a link between drug abuse and violent crimes such as insurgency, banditry and kidnapping, adding that these vices would persist until drug abuse was tackled. He disclosed this in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Friday during the inauguration of a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts named ‘Behavioural Action Centre’, built by a group known as Ogbomoso First Initiative. Clearing Agents Arrested as NDLEA Intercepts N32bn Worth of Cocaine at Lagos Port

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has recovered N32bn worth of cocaine at the Tincan Port in Lagos State. The cocaine was discovered in a consignment which arrived Nigeria from Brazil on board a vessel marked MV SPAR SCORPIO was placed on surveillance for some days before two clearing agents showed up on Monday to clear it. Speaking on the development, Sumaila Ethan, the commander of Tincan Port Command of the NDLEA, said the clearing agents were arrested, while the consignment was searched and the substance weighing 43.11kg was found in it. Stop Giving “Juju” to Cult Members, Police Ask Traditionalists

Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of police has cautioned traditionalists operating in the Ikorodu Local Government Area of the state to desist from strengthening cultists and criminals in the area with local charms, otherwise called juju in the country. This was contained in his speech during the 2021 Ikorodu Town Hall meeting on security on Wednesday. The commissioner said the state had enjoyed appreciable peace except in some areas like Ikorodu with a high rate of vices such as cultism, gangsterism, traffic robbery, ritual killings, amongst others. Anambra Police Parade Two Teenagers, 12 Others for Illegal Revenue Collection, Armed Robbery

The Anambra State Police Command has paraded fourteen males suspects who are engaged in illegal revenue collection and armed robbery in different parts of Onitsha. The suspects who were paraded at the Police Area Command Headquarters, Onitsha, were arrested in separate raids by the command's patrol team. Among the fourteen suspects were two teenagers, who were arrested separately at Nkpor Junction and Awada Obosi while robbing people of their belongings with a make-shift gun at night. Twelve other suspects were apprehended at Upper Iweka axis and Owerri Road where they are collecting unauthorized revenues from traders and vehicle owners.
