YABATECH: ASUP Quits from Part-Time Programmes Over Shortfall in Wages

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), on Monday disengaged from all the part-time programmes in the college following the shortfall in the payment of wages and allowances to its members. Mr Nureni Yekini, Chairman ASUP disclosed the union decision to newsmen at the end of the union’s congress in Lagos. He said that all services had been suspended till further notice. He explained that the congress reached the decision following various complaints from members over shortfall in payment of wages and allowances by the management of the college. Badagry Expressway : Lagos Govt Commences Demolition of Shanties

The Lagos State government taskforce on Tuesday commenced the demolition of shanties along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway after the expiration of 7-days ultimatum issued to the traders. The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Taiwo Olufemi Salaam, who led the cleanup team in the company of the Chairman, Lagos Task Force CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi and others, explained that the exercise was in line with the Executive Order of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on zero tolerance for traffic gridlocks and indiscriminate dumping of refuse. Lagos Task Force Orders Removal of Illegal Structures, Kiosks on Badagry Expressway

The operatives of the Lagos State Task Force Lagos State Taskforce on Wednesday ordered the removal of all illegal structures, Kiosks and the end to commercial activities along Badagry Expressway within seven days. Task Force chairman, CSP Ola Yinka Egbeyemi disclosed this while addressing owners of these illegal structures and the traders at different at the expressway, warned them to immediately vacate all road setbacks and walkways within the stipulated date to avoid the wrath of law. The Lagos State Government on Thursday destroyed a truckload of toxic “ponmo” which was seized a few days ago at Ijegun by the Igando/Ikotun Police Command. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Olayiwole Onasanya, made this known at the Medical Dumpsite, Ewu Elepe, Ikorodu, where the destruction of the toxic Ponmo took place. The Lagos State Ministry of Education has announced new dates for the 2019/2020 Entrance Examinations into the State Model Colleges and Upgraded Schools, the Placement Test into JSS 1 in all Public Secondary Schools across the State and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
