Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on Sunday warned Lagosians on the devastating effect of the raging Coronavirus (COVID-19). The governor appealed to Lagosians to take all the COVID-19 protocols seriously as COVID19 is not a glamorous disease or a hoax as some people claim it is. ”Lagosians, #COVID19 is not a glamorous disease, neither is it a hoax. Former UNILAG VC, Oye ibidapo-Obe is Dead

Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos has died, aged 71. Ibidapo-Obe died on Sunday in Lagos State. His death was confirmed by the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, UNILAG chapter, Dr Dele Ashiru. Ashiru described the late Ibidapo-Obe as a quintessential academic, noting that he would be solely missed in the education sector. He said, "Yes, he is dead. We got the sad news this evening. He is a distinguished scholar, a seasoned university administrator whose death remains a very big loss to the Nigerian university system and indeed the Nigerian society," he added. LASG Seals Cubana Night Club for Breaching COVID-19 Protocols

The Lagos State Government on Sunday sealed the Cubana night club, Ikeja GRA for violating the COVID-19 protocols introduced to curb the second wave of the virus in the state. Reports say the popular relaxation spot was sealed after inspection officials from the Lagos State Safety Commission arrived at the premises and discovered that the management was breaching the safety guidelines. BREAKING: Gridlock as Fuel Tanker Bursts into Flames on Otedola Bridge

There is heavy traffic at the Berger-Alausa-Magodo axis of Lagos State after a fuel tanker burst into flames on Otedola bridge, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Saturday. Reports in the media have it that the incident happened a few minutes to 6pm. The incident caused panic on the expressway as many vehicles made U-turn in a bid to avoid being engulfed by the fire. Some passengers were also seen alighting from vehicles hurriedly. Many passengers were also stranded at the Alausa Secretariat and toll gate bus stops. BREAKING: COVID-19 Second Wave: Sanwo-Olu Shuts Down Schools Until Further Notice

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed that all public and private schools in the state be shut down until further notice. The governor disclosed this in a statement on Friday. He also directed all public servants from Grade Level 14 and below, except emergency workers and first responders, to work from home for the next 14 days starting from Monday next week – in the first instance. Sanwo-Olu also stressed that concerts, carnivals and street parties were banned in Lagos until further notice. COVID-19: Sanwo-Olu Goes into Self-Isolation

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has gone into self-isolation following the news of one of his close aides testing positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. According to a statement by the state Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, the unnamed aide was said to have tested positive, necessitating the governor to proceed on self-isolation. The governor and other members of his team will be tested by the Lagos State biobank but will remain in isolation until the results of the test are available. “This is not the first time the governor is having the COVID-19 test. He has had at least three since May when he announced that 10 of his aides had tested positive for the virus,” the commissioner stated.
