Lagos Govt Debunks Media Reports on Abolition of Wealth Creation Ministry

The Lagos State Government has denounced a report in a section of the media alleging that the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has abolished the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment. A statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ministry of  Wealth Creation and Employment stated that the Ministry was created via an Executive Order (No. EO/AA.OI.2015) of June 17, 2015, to create sustainable wealth for Lagos citizens as well as promote and sustain entrepreneurship, through effective use of strategies and resources, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has confirmed Mr. Gboyega Akosile as his Chief Press Secretary. Until now, Akosile served as the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor. Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Princess Dolapo Fasawe as the General Manager of Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA). Fasawe, who is a seasoned medical practitioner, until her appointment, served as the Director in charge of Special Projects in the Lagos State Ministry of Health. Fasawe boasts of impressive track record of meritorious service to the State. She was one time the Coordinator of Eko Health Mission, an initiative of Lagos State Government through which thousands of residents at the grassroots and under-served areas of the State benefited from free healthcare services. Some members of staff of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency Response Unit (LRU) on Friday protested demanding the payment of over five months' salary arrears owed by the Lagos State government. The protest which was staged at Alausa, Ikeja saw the staff with placard of various inscriptions The report gathered that the large number of workers who had reportedly stopped reporting for work, the number of agents at the LRU call centre had been depleted. One of the workers who pleaded anonymity said they have stopped the emergency management operations in Lagos and manned the Command and Control Centre at Alausa, Ikeja, where over 80,000 emergency calls were received on a daily.
