Labour Party Assembly Candidate In Imo Dies

Chukwunonye Irouno, the Labour Party candidate for Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State has died. The deceased who was a popular master of ceremony in Owerri and the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs and Entertainment to a former governor of the State, Rochas Okorocha, passed on late on Monday in his Owerri residence. Irouno was scheduled to serve as the official MC for LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s rally in Owerri on Tuesday but died after he and other party stalwarts had finished inspecting Kanu Nwankwo sports stadium, Owerri, the venue for Obi’s campaign rally on Tuesday in the State. Labour Party Voids Okupe’s Suspension

The leadership of the Labour Party, LP, has rubbished the expulsion of Doyin Okupe, the director-general of Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Council, over alleged non-financial membership status, political rascality and misappropriation of funds. The party described the expulsion as unconstitutional and maintained that he remains a bona fide member.   Okupe who recently decamped to the LP has been embroiled in a tussle with some stalwarts of the party, many of whom allege that he has a penchant for intolerance and financial impropriety.
