Biafra: IPOB Suit – Investigate U.S., Leave Nigeria Alone – Nigerians in Diaspora Tell US Lawyer

Written by Abu Duniya The United States Chapter of the Nigerians in Diaspora Monitoring Group (NDMG) has reacted to the emerging report that Fein & DelValle PLLC, an American law firm is gathering evidence to charge President Muhammadu Buhari and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for successfully containing the terrorist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB). The group asked the firm to channel its energy and investigate United States president, George Bush and Barack Obama and leave Nigeria alone. Pasca Ogwola, Coordinator, USA/Canada, NDMG said it is disheartening that some people were unhappy over the proscription of IPOB and its activities. Ogwola said the lawyer was exploring how to make mo...

Opinion: The Desperate Agenda of an Evil Tyrant – Femi Fani-Kayode

Much has been brewing in the circles of power of our nation in recent weeks. Permit me to share some of my findings with my readers today. The rest will come later. Key players and leaders in the international community have warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to run for a second term but he has refused to listen. That is why he was in the United Kingdom for 16 days. He was not ill and he was not getting treatment for any ailment but he was consulting with and trying to convince the representatives of various foreign governnents, including the American, British and French, that he can still run in 2019 and win. My sources have confirmed to me that those he interacted with are not convinced but he has resolved to run regardless of their skepticism. They have asked him to probe...

Nigeria: Fake Viral News about Buhari’s ICC Secret “Integrity” Dossier By Farooq A. Kperogi, Ph.D.

There is a viral message making the rounds in Nigerian social media circles about an alleged secret document from the International Criminal Court at the Hague, which shows that, “A top secret background check on global leaders, past and present,” found President Muhammadu Buhari to be “the only leader rated XXX1 on integrity, the highest rating globally.” Please don’t laugh. The message adds: “That's why he is the only world leader on the ICC floor to address them." The message emanated from Abdulmumin Jibrin, a member of the House of Representatives from Kano, who, I understand, granted an interview to Channels TV. One version of the message quoted Jibrin as saying, "Buhari showed me a document he brought back from ICC, Hague.” Another version quoted him as saying he asked “a top memb...

Opinion: Adeosun NYSC Certificate Saga, Like Minister, Like Her President- Reno Omokri

While sharing his views on the alleged forgery of an exemption certificate by Nigeria's Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, Reno Omokri, a former aid to former President Goodluck Jonathan said it was a case of like minister, liker her president. Referring the President's certificate saga years back, Reno tweeted that, there was no reason for anyone to be surprised. His tweet read: "I don’t understand why @PremiumTimesng is shocked that Buhari appointed a minister who forged her NYSC Certificate. What about President @MBuhari himself. Did he not present a dubious certificate to Nigerians in 2015 dubbed ‘NEPA Certificate’? Like minister like her President!"

Nigeria: Have Buhari’s Children Served as Youth Corpers? – Reno Omokri

Following the revelation that Nigeria's current Finance Minister may have failed to serve in the mandatory one-year Youth Service Scheme and may have also forged an exemption certificate, Reno Omokri has asked if Buhari's own children have served in the scheme. Tweeting on the issue, he attacked the Buhari administration's attitude to the Youth Service scheme, asking among other things if the scheme was just for the masses. He raised the issue of the recently killed Youth Corp member, Ikechi Igwetu. In his tweets he said "Why is Premium Times singling out @HMKemiAdeosun? Which of President Buhari’s kids has served Nigeria through the mandatory National Youth Service Corp? It is either they are being given away in marriage to billionaires or are riding multi million power bikes of dub...

Opinion: Many Have Issues, But Few Are Roaming the Streets – Reno Omokri

I thought I had heard all there was to hear until Monday, July 2, 2018 when the Buhari Presidency came down hard on all those opposed to the administration’s cattle colony project. Speaking on a morning show on Africa Independence Television, Femi Adesina, Mr. Buhari’s spokesman said giving land for ranching is better than death! In fact, his exact words were as follows: “Ancestral attachment? You can only have ancestral attachment when you are alive. If you are talking about ancestral attachment, if you are dead, how does the attachment matter?” Going further, Femi Adesina opined thus: “Where you have land and you can do something, please do for peace. What will the land be used for if those who own it are dead at the end of the day?” To give some perspective, Femi is talkin...

Nigeria: Army of Internet Trolls Recruited to Malign Me – Ezekwesili

Oby Ezekwesili has taken to her Twitter page to call attention to the unsavory response to her protests. In her tweets, she noted that regardless of what part of the country the injustice she was protesting was happening, attempts were always made to question her motives. In her tweets she said "Here’s the thing. For me, Humanity has: No Ethnic address. No Language. No Religion nor Denomination. No Economic Status. No Political Belief. No Extras. Humanity is SIMPLY HUMANITY. My VOICE SHALL SPEAK whenever & wherever WE FAIL TO PROTECT HUMANITY. "I Protested the inaction of an administration on the KILLINGS and ABDUCTIONS in the North East, some hurled insults & impugned my “motive”. I protested the KILLINGS in the North West, an army of internet trolls were recruited to malign...

Burkina Faso: Death Penalty Abolished in Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso has joined the league of nations to have abolished the death penalty. According to Rene Bagoro, Burkina Faso's Justice Minister, the newly adopted penal code will promote a "more credible, equitable, accessible and effective justice in the application of criminal law. The local media however believe that the move is not unconnected with the administration's desire to have the brother of former President Blaise Compaore, extradited from France to face the murder charges against him. Francois Compaore is currently being held by French authorities. He was implicated in the murder of investigative journalist, Norbert Zonga and then fled to Ivory Coast where he was apprehended by French authorities. The change in the penal code paves way for the the extradition request to ...
