Biafran Government Says Rule of Law Must Prevail in Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial

The De-facto customary government of Biafra has cautioned the Nigerian government to ensure that the trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu follows the stipulated standard of the conventional rule of law, noting that it is closely monitoring the situation. The government of Biafra said this in reaction to the rearrest and detention of its citizen, Kanu, who is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra. Baba Ijesha to Arraigned in Court Today Over Alleged Molestation

Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, better known as Baba Ijesha, is set to be arraigned at the Magistrate Court 1 in Yaba on Wednesday, 16th June 2021. He was arrested by the police for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old girl, the ward of actress/comedienne, Princess. The Lagos Police spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi while announcing his arrest in a statement alleged that the actor had been sexually assaulting the teenager since she was seven. Youths from Nnung Ikono Obio in the Oruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday, stormed the family house of Uduak Akpan, the prime suspect in the murder of a jobseeker, Iniubong Umoren, and vandalised it. Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, has described the Code of Conduct, CCT, Chairman, Danladi Umar’s use of “Biafran boys” to classify the traders he had a fracas with at Banex Plaza in Abuja where he assaulted a security guard as xenophobic and liable to five-year sentence. The CCT chairman was caught in a viral video punching a security guard following a disagreement at the parking lot of the plaza. Court Unfreezes #EndSARS Campaigners’ Bank Accounts

Following the freezing of the bank account of some promoters of the #EndSARS protesters, a Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria to unfreeze 20 bank accounts linked to protesters and promoters of #EndSARS with immediate effect. The order was given by Justice Ahmed Mohammed following the sudden withdrawal of a suit filed against them by the CBN through its counsel, Michael Aondoakaa (SAN). The apex bank had asked for 180 days to probe the alleged crime against the defendants. The police in Osun State on Tuesday arraigned an accused person identified as Olayemi Lawrence for alleged attempted abduction of her employer, Eunice Fateye, before a Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Osogbo. Lawrence, 23, was alleged to have broken into the home of Fateye and carted away with some of her personal items and money. Zambia’s presidency on Sunday announced the sacking of the country’s health minister, arrested for alleged graft last year but cleared of charges. Chitalu Chilufya, 48, was held in June following accusations he used ill-gotten gains to acquire property.
