A 40-year-old jobless man, George Ukpong, has been remanded by an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on Thursday in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl. Court Sentences Obasanjo’s In-law To Seven Years Imprisonment

John Abebe, a businessman, has been sentenced to seven years in prison by a Lagos state special offences court in Ikeja for forging a document belonging to an oil company. Ruling on the suit on Saturday, the judge, Mojisola Dada, gave an option of a fine of N50 million to be paid within 30 days in place of imprisonment. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had in 2018 arraigned Abebe, a younger brother of the late Stella Obasanjo, former first lady, on four counts. An Ajah Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State has remanded a 42-year-old lawyer, Nzeteh Reagan, in the Ikoyi Custodial Centre for failing to account for the whereabouts of a suspect, Simon Odeh, accused of N16m fraud.   Magistrate O.M. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has said that Nigerian music star, Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, has been released but that investigation will continue. Recall that the commission had on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, detained D’Banj, after he was quizzed over his involvement in the alleged diversion of funds meant for the Federal Government’s economic empowerment programme, N-Power.
