INEC, PDP Plotting To Tamper With Electoral Documents – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Osun State, has raised an alarm that some officials of the National Electoral Commission, INEC, are planning to tamper with documents used for the conduct of the Osun State governorship poll. This was contained in a statement issued by the party’s Chairman, Mr Gboyega Famodun, alleging that the party was informed of plans by some officials of the electoral umpire to connive with stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to tamper with some result sheets and Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, used for the election. Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State Governor-elect, has pledged to defend and retain his victory before the election petition tribunal. He stressed that his electoral victory was in absolute compliance with the constitution of the country and the resolve of the people to chart a new course. Justice Tanko Muhammad, the current Chief Justice of Nigeria has stepped aside from that office. This confirmation came a few hours after rumours of his resignation hit the airwaves. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday ordered a former governor of Imo State and presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Rochas Okorocha, to remain in custody until he perfects the conditions attached to his bail. Justice Inyang Ekwo made the order after admitting the ex-governor to bail in the sum of N500m and one surety in the like sum. DR Congo Policeman Sentenced To Death For Murder

A Congolese military court has sentenced a high-ranking policeman to death for his role in the 2010 murder of human rights activist Floribert Chebeya, which caused national outrage. Commissioner of police Christian Ngoy Kenga Kenga was found guilty of murder, desertion and misappropriation of weapons and ammunition. Mr Chebeya's body was found bound and gagged in his car in Kinshasa. There is a moratorium on capital punishments in DR Congo.
