Nnamdi Kanu Files Suit Against Kenya Over Extradition to Nigeria

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has sued Kenya over his extradition to Nigeria. The pro-Biafra activist’s brother, Kingsley Kanunta, sued on his behalf, according to court papers obtained by our correspondent In his petition presented by Luchiri and Company Advocates, Kanu argued that his arrest in Kenya and subsequent extradition to Nigeria in June were unconstitutional. Those named as respondents are Kenya’s Interior CS, Director of Immigration, Director of Criminal Investigations, OCPD Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, and the Attorney General. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead legal representative for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has asked his followers not to lack focus as they battle to secure Kanu’s release. Ejiofor added that he visited Kanu in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, on Thursday The lawyer also stated that the operatives of the DSS who treated them inhumanely in recent weeks were different during the latest visit to the separatist leader. The Department of State Services, DSS, prevented the lawyers representing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from seeing him yesterday despite a court order permitting routine visit of his legal team. Court Remands Businessman In Prison For Allegedly Insulting Fintiri on Social Media

The Magistrate Court 2, presided by Magistrate Japhet Ibrahim Basani, on Monday remanded a businessman, Ali Numan, in Prison for allegedly insulting Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State on social media. It was gathered that Numan had on the 11th, 12th, 13th, 17th, 20th and 29th of July 2021, criticised the governor in posts published in Hausa and Fulfulde languages on his Facebook page. He was said to have allegedly described Governor Fintiri as “a thief and father of all thieves in Nigeria.” Numan allegedly claimed that the governor stole noodles and spaghetti and also hundreds of billions of naira. A Magistrate Court in Yola remanded the 36-year-old Aminu, on Thursday after he appeared in court for allegedly causing death by dangerous driving on June 23, 2021.
