Dowen College: Late Sylvester Oromoni’s Family Kicks Against N1million Bail Granted To Suspects

The family of late Sylvester Oromoni, Jnr, a 12-year-old student of Dowen College, Lagos State, who was allegedly murdered, has faulted the bail granted to the suspects by a Magistrate’s court in Yaba. On Tuesday, the Magistrate court granted bail to five students of Dowen College charged with the alleged murder of Oromoni. The students were admitted to bail in the sum of N1million each. The suspects had been charged with conspiracy and homicide by the police. The Chief Magistrate, Olatunbosun Adeola, after hearing the bail application filed by the counsel for the defendants, ordered the defendants to produce two sureties each in like sum. Joseph Nwobike Beats EFCC At The Supreme Court, Gets Reinstated As SAN

The Supreme Court has upturned the conviction of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Joseph Agburuwhuo Nwobike. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had arraigned him before a Lagos State High Court for the perversion of justice. The 18 counts bordered on attempting to pervert the course of justice, offering gratification to a public officer and giving false information to an EFCC official. He was convicted in 2018 on 12 of the counts by Justice Raliatu Adebiyi. Nwobike was subsequently stripped of his SAN title. A former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has said some corrupt judges are usually made part of election petition tribunals in order to corruptly enrich themselves by selling judgments to the highest bidders. Police Arrest Immigration Officer For Raid On Justice Odili’s Home

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a senior immigration officer, Abdullahi Usman, for his alleged role in the raid on the home of Justice Mary Odili, the second most senior judge in the country. The immigration officer is expected to be arraigned this week alongside a journalist, banker, lawyer, a fake policeman and seven others.
