Anambra Residents Flee Ahead Of Election

Ahead of the November 6 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, residents have begun to flee to other states. Speaking with newsmen, residents who have now taken refuge in other southeastern states said they fled Anambra for fear of violence during the election. “I’m not voting. I am in Imo already; I am staying with my friend now. Many of my friends have also left that place,” one of them said. Abia Court To Hear Nnamdi Kanu’s N5bn Suit Against FG November 2

The Abia State High Court has fixed November 2 for the hearing of fundamental rights suit filed by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, made this known in a press statement titled, ‘Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Fundamental Rights suit to be heard on 2nd November, 2021’, on Thursday. The lawyer had, on August 27, 2021, filed the case, demanding that the Federal Government return the secessionist to Kenya where he was “abducted”. He also demanded N5 billion from the government over alleged gross violation of Kanu’s fundamental rights. At the last hearing of this matter on September 21, 2021, the vacation judge had made a ruling transferring the case to the Chief Judge of Abia State High Court for assignment. The Presidency says the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), will lead to the end of the group. Garba Shehu, a presidential spokesman said this while responding to harsh criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari by a London-based news magazine, The Economist. IPOB Declares Sit-At-Home On Thursday To Honour Nnamdi Kanu’s Court Trial

The Indigenous People of Biafra has said next week Thursday is the only day its members should exercise sit-at-home to honour its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, as he is expected in court. The group refuted claims that it asked members to sit at home for the one-year remembrance of the #EndSARS protesters killed by the military men and other security agencies last year. IPOB further revealed it suspended the weekly Monday sit-at-home in the South-region, adding that those who did so did out of their volition.
