Policemen Flee as Hoodlums set Station ablaze in Imo

There was panic in Imo state Thursday night as hoodlums set the Aboh Mbaise Divisional Police Headquarters ablaze. It was gathered that the policemen on duty fled as the hoodlums who were mobile carried out the arson on the facility. On arrival, the hoodlums who, according to sources were carrying inflammable objects, threw them at the police formation and ignited the environment. The development caused panic in the area, as the policemen on guard, suspects and residents ran into nearby bushes. Investigation revealed that though no riffle was lost in the incident, some policemen and suspects sustained minor injuries. Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma on Tuesday defended the airstrike in Orlu, saying it was not meant to “crush” his people but to prevent a repeat of last October’s #EndSARS protests in the state. Okorocha Has Been Released – Imo Police

The Imo State Police Command, on Monday, said former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, has been released. Spokesperson for the state police command, Orlando Ikeokwu, made this known while featuring on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ programme monitored by newsmen. Ikeokwu said Okorocha was released on Sunday night after he was “invited” for “questioning” over the unsealing the Spring Palm Estate linked to his wife, Nkechi. “He was released later at night,” the PPRO said, adding, “If anybody is found culpable, definitely, he will be charged to court. #EndSARS: Social Media Responsible for Escalation of Protests – IGP

The Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Muhammad Abubakar Adamu on Thursday said social media was the a vital weapon used in escalating the #EndSars protests that rocked the states of the federation. The IGP made the statement when he paid a courtesy visit to the state Governor Hope Uzodimma to check the level of damage done to both Government and private facilities in the course of the protest. “I came specifically to visit vandalized properties and to see the level of damage done to police facilities in Imo”, he said.
