Gbolahan Yishawu representing Eti-Osa constituency 02 on Tuesday said low coverage testing and treatment are most  important gaps to be addressed in order to achieve the global elimination goals by 2030. Lagos State Destroys Seized Toxic ‘Ponmo’

The Lagos State Government on Thursday destroyed a truckload of toxic “ponmo” which was seized a few days ago at Ijegun by the Igando/Ikotun Police Command. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Olayiwole Onasanya, made this known at the Medical Dumpsite, Ewu Elepe, Ikorodu, where the destruction of the toxic Ponmo took place. Sanwo-Olu Visits Ijegun Fire Survivors, Warns Pipeline Vandals

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday visited victims of the recent Ijegun pipeline fire incident who are receiving treatment at the Trauma and Burns Unit of the Gbagada General Hospital. The Governor, in company of his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, sympathised with families of the victims and also appraised recuperation of the survivors. He took time to go round the three wards where some of the victims were receiving treatment for various degrees of injuries. Among the survivors are three children and four adults. Nigeria: Buhari Finally Sacks Yusuf, Replaces Him with Sambo as NHIS boss

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Prof. Mohammed Nasir Sambo to replace Usman Yusuf as the Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). A statement from the federal Ministry of Health on Monday night said the president approved the termination of appointment of the current executive secretary, Prof. Usman Yusuf who has been on administrative leave. This followed recommendations by an independent fact-finding panel on NHIS, the statement said. The statement said the president also approved the dissolution of the governing board of NHIS and directed the permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Health to exercise full powers of the council pending the constitution of a new board.
