CBN Must Obey S’court Judgment On Old Naira Notes – Falana

The Alliance for Surviving COVID-19 and Beyond, ASCAB, comprised of 70 labour and civil society organisations, CSOs, has said that the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, must comply with the ruling of the supreme court on the deadline for the use of old naira notes. Recall that a seven-member panel of the supreme court led by John Okoro, on Wednesday, temporarily stopped the federal government from restricting the use of the old naira notes after February 10. The suit was filed by governors of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara states. Human Rights activist, Femi Falana, SAN, has asked the Federal Government to cease provoking lecturers under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union, ASUU, in a dispute over wages. Falana said this when he appeared on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today, on Tuesday. He said university teachers deserve their full salaries for the period they were on strike. Recall that ASUU had on February 14, 2022, declared a strike that lasted for eight months, grounding academic activities in the nation’s public universities. Kaduna Train Attack: Falana Accuses Amaechi, NRC MD of Negligence, Wants Them Prosecuted
