The Nigerian Red Cross Society in Enugu State have sensitised women of Agulu, Umana community in Ezeagu Local Government Area (LGA) on safe pregnancy practices and hygiene promotion on the occasion of their just concluded annual August Conference. Speaking during the exercise, the Health Coordinator of the Red Cross in the state, Mrs. Jessie Maduekwe admonished the women to imbibe the habit of good personal and environmental hygiene which she said is a "win for everyone except the germs." Enugu Airport Reopens After 370 Days Closure as South East Leaders Commend Buhari

The federal government of Nigeria on Sunday commissioned the rehabilitated Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, for flight operations. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had closed the airport on August 24, 2019 for rehabilitation after its runway had become deplorable. In his address at the inauguration on Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, describes the airport reopening as a “promise kept.” According to Buhari, the airport was important to the aviation industry as well as the people of the South-East because of its revenue base, noting that informed the concerted effort at delivering the airport on time. Violent Clash in Enugu Claims Lives of ‘21’ IPOB Members, Two DSS Operatives (See Video)

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has claimed that 21 of its members were killed in a violent clash with security operatives and 47 others arrested in Emene, Enugu State on Sunday. The Department of State Services (DSS) has also alleged that two of its operatives were killed by members of the IPOB. The claims were made by the IPOB and SSS in separate statements on Sunday. The clash  left residents of the neighborhood gripped with fear as armed police officers and soldiers were deployed to ensure normalcy returns to the area.
