“Thank You Sir”, Dino Melaye Accepts Appointment As Atiku’s Spokesperson

Dino Melaye, former Kogi West Senator, has accepted his appointment as a spokesperson for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for the 2023 presidential election. Recall that Atiku had in a statement released by Paul Ibe, his Special Adviser on Media, announced Melaye’s appointment with immediate effect on Thursday. Aregbesola Plotting Against Tinubu In Osun – APC

The youth branch of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State has fingered Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, as plotting against the ambition of APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the State. This was conveyed by Goke Akinwemimo, the APC Youth Leader, when he addressed journalists in Osogbo, Osun State on Wednesday. Peter Obi Does Not Have Enough Experience to Lead – Okowa

Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State Governor, has stated that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, does not possess enough experience to lead the country. Okowa, the vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, disclosed this in an interview with the BBC pidgin. According to him, even though Obi has been a governor of Anambra State, the experience was not “deep” enough to lead as a president. Okowa said: “I did not say he won’t have any votes, he will have. CVR: INEC Firm On CVR Deadline

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has insisted that the Continuous Voters, CVR, exercise will not be extended as it is set to stop on July 31, 2022 (today). The clarification follows the huge crowd that trooped to registration centres to register before the deadline. Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner in charge of publicity and voter education, disclosed this during an interaction with the press at the Anambra State INEC headquarters. 2023 Election: INEC To Provide 200,000 BVAS – Okoye

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said that over 200,000 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, will be deployed for the 2023 general elections. This was disclosed by Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, in Umuahia, Abia State. He said that the BVAS would be deployed in the 176,000 polling units across the country, adding that the surplus will be kept handy as a reserve. Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, has cited Permanent Voters Card, PVC, registration as the rationale behind the four free-work days declared by the state government. He said the holiday given to workers in the State was to provide them with the opportunity to enrol for the PVC before the July 31, 2022 deadline fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. Buhari Sends List of 19 RECs For Senate Confirmation

President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded a list of 18 nominees for appointment as Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to the Senate for confirmation. The request letter was read at the plenary by the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan. According to President Buhari, his request was in line with the provisions of Section 154 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). Sanwo-Olu Approves Four Work-free Days For Workers To Register for PVC

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has approved 26th to 29th July as work-free days for workers in the State in a bid for them to register for or collect their Permanent Voters Cards before the exercise closes on July 30, 2022.
