A founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum and elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has revealed that he would support the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s presidential bid in 2023. Tinubu had on Wednesday visited the elder statesman at his Abuja residence. Yakasai told Punch that the ex-governor of Lagos was at his Abuja residence to solicit his support for his (Tinubu’s) presidential ambition in the next general elections. Senate President Ahmad Lawan says the national assembly expects President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the electoral amendment bill 2021 into law. Lawan said this on Monday while speaking to state house correspondents after the meeting with the president. On November 19, the national assembly had transmitted the bill to Buhari for assent. INEC Lists Corps Members To Conduct Direct Primaries

The Independent National Electoral Commission may be forced to use serving members of the National Youth Service Corps to monitor political parties’ direct primaries across the country if President Muhammadu Buhari, signs the Electoral Act Amendment Bill. This is because of the large number of personnel that will be needed to monitor the direct primaries across the 8,809 awards in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory. Soludo Defeats Andy Uba And Ozigbo In Their LGAs

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Charles Soludo, has defeated his main contenders in their local government area. Mr. Soludo won Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Aguata LGA, the three top contenders’ native council. Mr. Soludo, Uba, and Ozigbo had won in their respective polling units in Isuofia, Uga, and Amesi town in Aguata. The Independent National Electoral Commission says it will upload election results from the 5,634 polling units to its result-viewing portal in today’s governorship poll in Anambra State. It however said collation of results would be done manually as obtained in previous elections and not with the uploaded results.
