APC Presidential Primary: Why Oyegun’s Committee Axed 10 Aspirants

The Chief John Odigie-Oyegun led Presidential Screening Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has axed 10 of the 23 presidential aspirants of the party. Although it was not immediately possible to get the list of those affected the committee chairman said all the aspirants were qualified in terms of qualifications and constitutional requirements but his team had cut down the number based on six other factors. The All Progressives Congress Screening Committee has disqualified 10 presidential aspirants of the party. A Peoples Democratic Party national delegate from Kaduna State, Tanko Sabo, has said that he donated over N12 million he got from the party’s presidential primary to the less-privileged in the Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna. Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye has dismissed claims that Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State betrayed his Rivers counterpart, Nyesom Wike during the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primary election. Tambuwal had withdrawn from the presidential race and supported former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar. Tambuwal’s action is widely believed to have led to Atiku clinching the party’s presidential ticket. The Waziri of Adamawa polled 371 votes to defeat Wike who had 237 votes, and Saraki with 70.
