Ghana Election: Mahama Rejects Presidential Poll Results

John Mahama, Ghana’s opposition candidate in the presidential election, on Thursday, rejected as fraudulent the result of the poll in which President Nana Akufo-Addo won a second term in office. On Wednesday, the country’s electoral umpire said that incumbent Akufo-Addo had garnered 51.59 percent of the vote on Monday, ahead of rival Mahama with 47.36 percent. Mahama has rejected the result. Ondo Decides: Akeredolu Tops as INEC Declares Results from 15 LGAs

Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has maintained the lead in the Ondo State governorship election as results from 15 out of 18 Local Governments are announced. This is according to results announced by the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission at its collation centre in Akure. Candidate of the APC, Akeredolu won in 12 LGAs while Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled the highest votes in three LGAs. The candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), and Deputy governor of the state, is yet to win any LGA. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed plans to utilise the country’s security outfits to quell threats to the peaceful conduct of the Ondo State governorship election especially in riverine areas and other hotspots in the state.
