Anambra 2021: INEC Insists Election Will Hold As Scheduled

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says security measures are being put in place to ensure that the Anambra governorship election holds as scheduled. In recent months, security facilities and offices belonging to the commission have been destroyed in the south-east. In the latest attack, which occurred on September 19, the INEC office in Awgu LGA of Enugu State was set ablaze. The Peoples Democratic Party and its governors’ forum on Saturday said that a decision zoning of political offices would be made by the party at the appropriate time before the party convention, scheduled for October 30. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is set to meet heads of security agencies this week as part of efforts to forestall the rising attacks on its offices in some part of the country. Reports say the meeting with security agencies will be held after a meeting of the resident electoral commissioners of the electoral umpire on Wednesday.
