Imo: INEC Reacts As Gunmen Kill Staff, Says Two Others Missing

INEC The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the Continuous Voter Registration Exercise (CVR) in Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State. Reports say that Mr. Nwokorie Anthony, staff of the INEC, involved in the ongoing CVR exercise, was shot dead by unknown gunmen at Nkwo Ihitte (PU 004) in Amakohia Ward (RA 02) of Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State. The commission, in a statement signed by Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, stated that the incident had been reported to security agencies, to bring those responsible to justice. INEC Declares Anambra Gov Election Inconclusive, Fixes Nov 9 For Supplementary Poll In Ihiala

The Returning Officer of the Anambra State governorship election, Professor Florence Obi, has said that a supplementary election will hold in 362 polling units in Ihiala Local Government Area on Tuesday, November 9. Citing the constitution, Prof. Obi noted that election had to take place in those polling units for the election to be conclusive. She noted that election did not take place in Ihiala because there were reports of insecurity in the area.
