Appeal Court Constitutes Edo Governorship Election Tribunal Panel

  President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, on Monday constituted the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal to handle petitions arising from the gubernatorial election in Edo State. INEC disclosed Obaseki’s victory on Sunday afternoon after he polled the highest number of votes in the Edo election. Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governor Godwin Obaseki has garnered the most vote cast in 14 local government areas as INEC continues announcement of results for the Edo State governorship election. Obaseki is leading his closes rival, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the opposition All Progressive Congress. Results from 14 local government areas announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission show that Obaseki scored a total of 254,169 while Ize-Iyamu polled 163,429.
