Edo 2020: Atiku Congratulates Obaseki

  Following the announcement of Governor Godwin Obaseki, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the gubernatorial elections in Edo State yesterday, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has congratulated the Governor. Atiku who was the party's flagbearer in the 2019 Presidential elections commended Governor Obaseki for liberating the state from "godfatherism and militarism." Alhaji Atiku who took to Twitter immediately INEC made the official declaration of results said it is a new dawn in Edo State and described the victory as a hard-won victory. Governor Godwin Obaseki polled 307, 955 votes to defeat his closest rival Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC who polled 223, 619 votes.

Breaking: Obaseki Declared Winner of Edo State Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced governor Godwin Obaseki as the winner of Edo State governorship election held on Saturday. The victory meant Obaseki has secured a second term in office after seeing off contest from his opponents with a wide margin. INEC disclosed Obaseki’s victory on Sunday afternoon after he polled the highest number of votes in the Edo election. Obaseki who contested the election under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defeated his closest opponent, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressive Congress with a difference of 84,336 votes.

PDP Alleges Plot by APC to Alter Edo Election Result

The Peoples Democratic Party has accused the All Progressive Congress of mounting pressure on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to change result of the Edo State governorship election. This was contained in a stamen by National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan who alleged that the APC was pressuring on INEC to increase the result of the party in some polling units to APC’s favour. APC Runs Riot at Oshiomhole’s Poling Unit, Floors PDP

The All Progressive Congress (APC) flag bearer in the Edo State gubernatorial election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu defeated won the polling unit of the immediate former National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole with a land slide margin. According to result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC polled 1,201 at Ward 10, PU 001, Estako West Local Government Area. Edo 2020: Phillip Shaibu Wins Polling Unit with Wide Margin

  Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, has polled 401 votes in his polling unit by 401 votes as against the All Progressives Congress’s 148 votes in today’s Governorship election. He earlier voted at Ward 11, polling unit 5 of Etsako West LGA where he addressed his supporters to remain calm and allow the rule of law to prevail. In another polling unit close to that of the Deputy Governor, the PDP also polled 131 to win its closest rival, APC which polled 65. Shortly after the results were announced, supporters of the PDP took to the streets to celebrate.
