I won’t Leave PDP for APC, Diri Declares

Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri has rejected the reported overtures by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for him to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He declared his total commitment to the PDP, saying he is going nowhere. He said though he appreciated the APC for acknowledging that his administration is performing in Bayelsa in terms of development and good governance, the call for him to dump PDP is unfortunate, provoking and unwelcome. Diri Signs N329bn 2021 Appropriation Bill into Law

Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has signed the 2021 bill of N329.29 billion into law. The governor had on November 26 presented an estimate of N290.295 billion tagged, ‘Budget of Growth’ to the state House of Assembly. While assenting to the bill in Government House, Yenagoa, Diri said the increase in the figure would address areas of deficit identified in the appropriation bill as well as assist in the infrastructure development of the state. BREAKING: Supreme Court Dismisses Suit Against Bayelsa Governor, Deputy

A seven-man panel of the Supreme Court on Wednesday affirmed Douye Diri as the duly elected governor of Bayelsa State. In a unanimous judgement by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, the apex court dismissed the six appeals filed against the governor and his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. Justice Ngwuta, in his judgement, predicated the dismissal of the appeals on the withdrawal of the six appeals by lawyers of the appellants. The appeals dismissed were filed by the Alliance for Democracy, Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party and Labour Movement, according to a report by Channels Television which was monitored by AfricanNewsToday.
