Imo Directors to take Exam before Promotion to Perm Sec Position – Uzodimma
Directors in the Imo State civil service will now take promotion examinations before being promoted to permanent secretaries.
Governor Hope Uzodimma, who announced this on Monday during the commemoration of his one year in office in Owerri, said appointing directors as acting permanent secretaries in the state ministries, departments and agencies was a violation of the civil service rule and would therefore no longer be tolerated by his administration.
Uzodimma decried the rot going on in the state civil service allegedly being perpetrated by some corrupt civil servants, which had resulted in the ‘ghost’ workers syndrome, collection of double salaries, and bloated wage bill for pensioners in the state.
