COVID-19: FCT Minister bans Prayer at Eid Ground

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Bello, has banned Eid prayers at the National Eid prayer ground on the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway, Airport Road. The prohibition, Bello said, is due to the battle against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that is still ravaging some parts of the world. COVID-19: FG extends Work-from-home Directive for Workers tíll June 11

As part of measures aimed at preventing the spread of deadly strains of COVID-19 in the country, the Federal Government on Monday extended its work-from-home directive for civil servants on Grade Level 12 and below. According to the Presidential Steering Committee On COVID-19 domiciled in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, civil servants will continue to work from home till June 11, 2021, after which the directive may be reviewed. CAF Postpones African 2022 World Cup Qualifiers From June

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has announced postponement of the group stage of the African 2022 World Cup qualifiers initially billed for June till September. The decision was reached by the Emergency Committee of CAF on Thursday, a statement on CAF’s official website disclosed. CAF based the decision on the persistent threat posed by deadly COVID-19 across the continent. COVID-19: FG restricts Passengers from Brazil, India, Turkey

The Federal Government has resolved to  deny non-Nigerian passport holders and non-residents who visited Brazil, India or Turkey within 14 days entry into Nigeria. This decision was part of the decisions reached by the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 following increasing cases of COVID-19 and fatalities in some parts of the world. The committee’s chairman, Boss Mustapha, disclosed this in a statement titled ‘Travel advisory for passengers arriving Nigeria from Brazil, India and Turkey.’ According to the statement, the travel advisory shall take effect from Tuesday while it shall be subjected to review after an initial period of four weeks. No COVID-19 Deaths Recorded in Nine Days – NCDC

The Nigerian Center for Disease Control reported zero COVID-19-related deaths for the ninth consecutive day as the nation’s fatality toll remains 2,061. The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Tuesday. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the country last registered a COVID-19-related death on April 11. It reports that aside from April 11, the number of reported deaths in week 14, which was April 6, was two from two states.
