AFCON 2023: Kenya Miss Deadline To Take Part In Campaign

Kenya will not take part in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, whose qualifying campaign is expected to start in early June. This is due to an ongoing ban from Fifa because of governmental interference in the running of the game. The East African nation expected that their ban would be lifted two weeks before their first Nations Cup qualifier if they were to take part in the 2023 campaign. However, as of the Saturday, May 21 deadline, the ban was still active. Burundi President To Fire All Married Government Officials With Side-chicks

The president of Burundi, Évariste Ndayishimiye is set to fire all married government officials who have concubines or are involved in extra-marital relationships. The directive is alleged to have been masterminded by Minister for Internal Security, Gervais Ndirakobuca as a way to bring sanity into the country starting from the top. Meanwhile, the move has sparked a debate on social media. While some welcomed the move, a different section was not quite impressed as they opined that government should focus more on fighting corruption rather than extramarital affairs.   See Also: Boko Haram Invades Damboa Borno, Many Feared Dead Read some comments below; Ash vel stated; “Hahaha….when government has left nothing to do on,just have to interfer in people’s affairs”. His emergence was a popular choice among the Burundians. The Guardian reported that Nkurunziza’s death is COVID-19 related. Burundi: President Pierre Nkurunziza Named ‘Eternal Supreme Guide’

Burundi's President Pierre Nkurunziza has been named "Eternal Supreme Guide" by his political party. The move means no one in the governing CNDD-FDD is allowed to disagree with his choices, secretary-general Evariste Ndayishimiye said. "He is our leader. Therefore in our party... no one is comparable to him," Mr Ndayishimiye said. "He is our parent, he is the one who advises us. That is why I ask all our members to respect that because a home without the man (its head) can be overlooked by anybody. For us, we have the best." But critics say a cult of personality is developing around 54-year-old Mr Nkurunziza. Jeremy Minani, the leader of the opposition Rally of Burundi Democrats (RDB), told Burundi Radio Publique Africaine: "President Pierre Nkurunziza's naming himself the l...
