Buhari Orders Security Chiefs to Identify Criminals, Sponsors

The National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (retd.), on Tuesday quoted President Muhammadu Buhari, as directing the nation’s service chiefs to identify masterminds of banditry and kidnapping as well as the sponsors with a view to taking them out. The NSA told State House correspondents that Buhari handed down the directive at a meeting he had with the service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He quoted the President as saying that a situation where the armed forces are reactionary rather than being proactive will no longer be tolerated. INEC declares PDP Candidate, Ebisike, Winner of Aba By-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Aba North/South Federal Constituency bye-election, Mr Chimobi Ebisike, the winner of the Saturday polls and returned him elected. He polled a total of 10,322 votes to defeat his closest challenger and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, chief Mascot Uzor Kalu who scored 3,674 votes. The All Progressives Grand Alliance and Action Alliance were the other political parties that fielded candidates in the election. Teenage Girl kills Brother During Fight in Ondo

A teenager identified as Idowu Biletiri Ruth has stabbed her elder brother to death for reportedly questioning her movement. The incident happened at Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State. Witnesses said Ruth, aged 18, was peeved after brother questioned her for sleeping outside the previous day. The witness said the suspect picked a kitchen knife after an argument and stabbed her brother. The brother was said to have died after a few minutes. BREAKING: Kaduna Orders Immediate Closure Of Schools Over Attacks

The Kaduna State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all public and private schools in the Kajuru Local Government Area of the state. According to a memo signed by the zonal education office, Sabon Tasha, all schools should close due to the prevailing security situation in the area. The memo, dated March 16, was addressed to all principals of public and private schools. Gunmen had on March 11 stormed the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Mando, Kaduna state, kidnapping 39 students. The Kaduna college was said to have about 300 male and female students, mostly aged 17 and older at the time of the attack.
