INEC Fixes Ekiti, Osun Guber Polls For June 18, July 16 2022

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Ekiti and Osun Governorship elections for Saturday June 18 and Saturday July 16 2022 respectively. The Commission made the announcement in Abuja on Wednesday. BREAKING: Police Council Confirms Baba as IGP

The Police Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, has confirmed Usman Alkali Baba as Inspector General of Police (IGP). Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, who disclosed this to State House Correspondents after the meeting, said Baba was unanimously confirmed. President Buhari had on April 6, appointed Baba as acting Inspector General of Police.

Gunmen Raze Security Facility in Abia

Gunmen on Saturday evening attacked the facility of Abia State Police Criminal Investigation Department located at the Ugwunchara axis of Umuahia, the Abia State capital. Sources said that the gunmen arrived the SCID facility in a Toyota Sienna with some of the gunmen who were Stark naked and others dressed in black attire with red scarf carrying AK7. The sources said that the gunmen also came with the message that they will deal with anyone that disobeys the Monday May 30th sit-at-home order. JAMB Extends UTME Registration By Two Weeks

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board yesterday said the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry earlier slated for June 3 will now commence from June 19 to July 3. The board also announced a two-week extension for candidates to register. The registration exercise will end on May 29. The board also said the Mock UTME earlier scheduled for 20th May will now hold on June 3. The board stated these in a communique issued at the end of a two-day meeting in Abuja. The communique was read by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede on Saturday. The registrar said only 1,134,424 candidates (UTME+DE) have so far been registered. Anti-June 12 General, Joshua Dogonyaro is Dead

Lt. General Joshua Dogonyaro (Rtd) has died. Dogonyaro known for his role in the ouster of General Muhammadu Buhari military junta and ushered in the Ibrahim Babangida junta on August 27, 1985, was 80 years old.
