IPOB is Absolutely Necessary for the Fight for the Emancipation of Igbo Land – Igbo Stakeholders

Resolutions Reached The Meeting Between Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and Some Igbo Stakeholders Being Facilitated By Nzuko Umunna (Bridge Builders) at the Peace And Reconciliation Meeting On July 5th, 2020. The discussions held between Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and some stakeholders of Igbo land and the resolutions agreed thereupon are as follows: 1. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has legitimate reasons to be angry. The failure of leadership in Igbo land is a critical issue that has to be addressed urgently. However, there is a need to move away from verbal attacks and abuses /insults on elders and neighbours of the Igbo nation. 2. The personal sacrifices Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has made for the cause and rights of the Igbo nation is highly appreciated and honoured by many Igbos. Most Igbos love Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and this is...

Opinion: Punch Newspapers, Kperogi and their Hypocritical Lamentations by Ikechukwu Eluigwe

How sincere is he who, having an elephant before him, uses a dog to give an example of a very large animal? How sincere is he, who having a dolphin before him, uses a frog to give an example of an aquatic animal? How sincere is he, who having a lion before him, uses a pussy cat as an example of a fierce predator? There are examples we use to buttress a point that will actually reveal more to a wise audience than just what the example was meant to buttress. Punch Newspapers have been in the news because of their lamentation over Buhari's draconian rule; before then, Farooq Kperogi had rendered his own lamentations over the same thing. In their lamentations, they both sought to validate their positions by giving examples of Buhari's despotism. And something strange happens: the no-mention...

RE: Unlawful Killing, Nchatancha Community, Emene, Enugu East LGA

Ladies and gentlemen, everyone, today again, 22/08/2019, our stalls and offices received disheartening news over the unlawful killing of a woman (an Igbo woman) who hails from Nchatancha community Emene, Enugu East LGA by persons suspected to be herdsmen.  In fact, reports received from members of the community and those around it describe the perpetrators of this heinous act as ‘Fulani’ herdsmen. Some reports stress the shameful and heart-rending manner of this death. Angry youth demonstrators took over various locations in the capital today following up this incident with protests and various staged demonstrations over the unlawful killings. We note that various other communities within Enugu have had to deal with these sorts of incidents before and have as before, reported these i...

Nigeria: Ike Ekweremadu Manhandled by IPOB Members in Germany

Former deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu was shown in a video being manhandled by suspected IPOB members in Nuremburg Germany where he had gone to celebrate the Igbo new yam festival. As the video showed him being chased out of the venue of the event, voices could be heard in the background shouting "people are being killed on a daily basis, people are being arrested for no reason...." "we don't want them here.." This was clearly a show of disappointment and even anger at the Igbo ruling class who many IPOB members and indeed Igbos as a whole have seen as not being interested in the welfare of their people but only interested in their respective pockets. The Sultan of Sokoto and Fulani Leader His Eminence Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad THE STATE OF THE NATION We write this letter to you considering your importance as the head of the Fulani people in Nigeria. You are also the head of Fulani Muslims in Nigeria. It is our hope that you will be able to share the thoughts expressed here with the 7 million Fulani people in Nigeria through your traditional means of communication. We write to honour you with this letter, given the floundering opportunities for a dialogue on the future of Nigeria, which has eluded the various ethnic groups in Nigeria and which may not enhance itself too soon. Given the drumbeats of armed violence and extremism perpetrated largely by your people, and the fleeting prospects of a national dialogue, we hope this lett...

Biafra: Justice Binta Orders the Arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, Trial for Treason Charges to Continue

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and directed that his trial on charges of treasonable felony should proceed in his absence. The judge, whose decision was anchored on the provisions of Section 352(4) of the Administrative of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, said Kanu had failed to appear in court since April 25, 2017 without any reasonable explanation. The lead prosecuting counsel, Mr. Magaji Labaran, applied for the court’s orders earlier in the Thursday’s proceedings. Kanu’s lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had opposed Labaran’s oral application, and had asked to be given more time to explain why his client had not been in court by filing all necessary papers. He insiste...

Nigeria: IPOB Insists on Boycotting the 2019 General Elections

The leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has insisted that its position on boycotting the 2019 elections has not changed. In a statement credited to Mazi Alphonsus Uche Okafor-Mefor, the deputy leader of the group, the group said "Forget all the noise, disregard all self-destructive, nocturnal activities and conducts of baby opportunists whose stock in trade is treachery in Biafra land. Truth is that we have made up our minds, crossed boundaries and calibrated territories and guess what ? We have firmly established ourselves both in minds and presence of friends and foes. We, therefore, make bold to state with every ounce of certainty and beyond every conceivable equivocation that nobody can question the wisdom in "boycotting the fraudulent election" of the zoo ca...
