Ohanaeze warns FG Against embarking on Unwinnable War

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide on Thursday said those encroaching on land in Alaigbo were provoking their people and Igbo deities. Ohanaeze President General, Prof. George Obiozor, who stated this during a press conference in Enugu, declared that “there is no ‘No Man’s Land’ in Igbo land”. Obiozor warned the Federal Government to rethink, reflect and act fast before the prophecy of the “late Chinua Achebe’s book, ‘Nigeria: There was a country’ becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy of a national reality and a national tragedy foretold.” Obiozor stated, “We all are aware that we are passing through one of the worse times in virtually all aspects of our national life. General Murtala Ramat Muhammed, over four decades ago, succinctly captured the mood of our nation today in his message to...

Mohammed Adamu, former Inspector-General of Police, had fingered the operatives of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, to have perpetrated the attacks, although the group has denied involvement in the attacks. After the mayhem, Onochie tweeted a video showing former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, receiving the then Biafran Vice President, Major General Philip Effiong, who facilitate...

The Indigenous People of Biafra has decried the blocking of the Facebook account of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. In a statement by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, on Wednesday, the group described the action as despicable and petty. While accusing the Federal Government of having a hand in the conspiracy, IPOB described Facebook as an accomplice of mass murder. The statement read in part, “We strongly condemn this attitude of Facebook managers in Lagos and Abuja who collude with corrupt Nigeria government officials to suppress free flow of information via their platform. “This unconscionable and reprehensible attitude amounts to partnering with perpetrators of human rights abuses and other criminal activities masterminded by the Nigeria State against innoc...

Nigeria: Indigenous People and their Right to Self-Determination

28th September 2020   Between years 2000 and 2002, a full one-third of the states of Nigeria declared that they would be governed by Islamic Sharia. These are twelve adjoining states in the core north also known as the Arewa region.  In taking up Sharia for themselves, Arewa took up their entitlement to self-determination, and were not criminalised or penalised for it. In characteristic Nigerian fashion of confusing matters, although the 1999 Constitution (Section 10) that it operates mandates that Nigeria must be a secular country, it is also known that this Constitution is a forgery, thus null and void, and invalid. Therefore could it be that Arewa simply ignored the Constitution being unwilling to keep to the demands of an illegitimate social contract? What is clear is that A...

Police Warns Against IPOB Oct. 1 Sit-at-Home Call

Police authorities on Wednesday warned against the call by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for a sit-at-home on October 1. The Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi, Philip Maku, warned IPOB to steer clear of the state while stating that the proscribed group does not have the legal right to tell citizens to sit at home. In his reaction to the directive by the leader of the proscribed group, Maku said: “People have the fundamental right to movement. If you try to restrict their right to move about and transact their lawful business activities, you are crossing the red line. “If anyone tries to force people to sit at home, the Police will not fail to deal decisively with such persons,” he warned. IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu had earlier said the call to sit-at-home was to ...

Opinion: What do these Biafrans Really Want? by Pomonua

I asked this question because the noise from their agitation is really taking a nuisance pitch and dimension. Let us set the records straight, the British continues to have an interest in the affairs of Nigeria and its governance. The country is a major source of earnings for them. When they departed upon independence, they entrusted its affairs in the hands of those they could trust; those who will allow them unfettered access to those things that fueled their economy. That is how the Fulani came to be in power. Biafra knows that Britain is the unseen hand working behind the scene to frustrate its actualization, even though the face of the Fulani is what you see. If in doubt, watch this video of the confession by Harold Smith, one of the principal participant during that episode.  ...
