MTN To Takeover Construction Of Enugu-Onitsha Road

The Federal Executive Council, FEC, has ratified MTN’s takeover of the construction of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. The takeover is part of the road Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme. Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Works and Housing, stated to State House correspondents after this week’s council meeting president by President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Fashola said the approval followed Executive Order 7 signed by the President in January 2019. He said the arrangement will allow the MTN to complete the dualization of the 110-kilometre road. Fashola, Ngige’s Convoy Crashes In Delta, Four Policemen Feared Dead

The convoy of the Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari; Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; and his counterpart in Labour and Employment, Christ Ngige, crashed during the inspection of a bridge in Asaba, Delta State. Four policemen were feared dead in the accident that occurred Tuesday evening. It was gathered that the driver lost control of the vehicle conveying security operatives and crashed into a deep pit. An eyewitness, John Okorie, said the incident happened when the vehicle conveying the victims was negotiating the bend leading to the construction site of the Second Niger Bridge at the Asaba. Borrowing Is Good For Nigeria– Fashola

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has defended the Nigerian Government’s resort to loans to expand infrastructure in the country. Fashola, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria, said that the country would not make meaningful progress without taking loans to boost infrastructure.
