Nigeria Opens 14 Airports for Domestic Operation

The Federal Government of Nigeria said 14 airports were now accessible for domestic flight operations in the country. Hadi Sirika, Minister of Aviation in a tweet on his official twitter handle said that 14 airports were now fully operational for domestic and commercial flights. The minister said that ministerial approvals for private and charter flights in and out of the 14 airports were not required, as the public would be informed of the other airports in due course. Flight Resumption in Nigeria; FAAN Issues Post COVID-19 Guidelines for Flight Operation

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has released new guidelines for travelers as the country plans to safely reopen its airspace and airports to local flights without risking the health of travelers. Henrietta Yakubu, FAAN’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs in a report said, “the new Standard Operating Procedure is aimed at protecting all stakeholders and preventing further spread of the Covad-19 virus.” Yakubu said that of the guidelines stipulates that every passenger must mandatorily wear face masks and maintain a physical distancing of not less than 1.5m. Nigeria: Nigeria Air Unveiled in London

The Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika today Wednesday the 18th of July unveiled the name and logo of the long awaited Nigerian carrier - Nigeria Air. This happened at the Farnborough International Airshow in London. Speaking at the event, the Minister noted that this was not a social service but a private sector driven initiative. According to him, the Federal Government will only own 5% of the new carrier. He said "This will be a National Carrier that is Private sector-led and driven. "It is a business, not a social service. The government will not be involved in running it or deciding who runs it. The investors will have full responsibility for this."
