UEFA WCL: Oshoala Bags Player Of the Match In Barca’s Trashing Of Benfica

Nigerian international, Asisat Oshoala was named the Player of the Match in Barcelona’s 9-0 thrashing of Benfica in the UEFA women’s Champions League on Wednesday.       This was contained in a tweet on the UEFA women’s Champions League Twitter handle. Oshoala bagged two goals and provided two assists as Barcelona kicked off their champions league campaign in Group D. CAF Awards: Oshoala Wins Record Fifth Player Of The Year Award

Asisat Oshoala, Super Falcons of Nigeria striker has won a record fifth female Player of the Year at the CAF awards held in Morocco on Thursday. Sadio Mane of Senegal also retained his award as the best male player of the year after helping Senegal to win the African Cup of Nations and his exploits with his former club, Liverpool of England. He last won the award in the 2019 edition, which was the last time the award event was organised. Mane clinched the award of his compatriot, Édouard Mendy, and former Liverpool teammate, Mohamed Salah. Asisat Oshoala scored and provided two assists as European champions, Barcelona Femeni, defeated Arsenal WFC 4-1 in the first ever group stage of the UEFA Women's Champions League. Barcelona were completely dominant in the first half and were rewarded with the first goal on 31 minutes when Asisat Oshoala's terrific shot was punched away by Zinsberger in the Arsenal goal, but Mariona Caldentay was there to knock the rebound into the goal. Oshoala Undergoes Surgery

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has been ruled out of action for some time due to injury, her Spanish club Barcelona have confirmed. The surgery was to correct the defect on her right foot. “The player had been suffering from discomfort for a few weeks, which had caused her to miss a game, such as the one at Santa Teresa. The intervention was given by Dr. Dalmau, under the supervision of the Medical Services of FC Barcelona. “The evolution of the player will mark her return to the field of play,” the club said in a statement. Oshoala last featured for Barcelona Femino in their UEFA Women’s Champions League match against Manchester City last week.
