Supreme Court Voids Andy Uba’s Candidacy In Anambra Gov Election

APC The Supreme Court on Tuesday voided Senator Andy Uba’s participation in the last governorship election in Anambra State as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress. A five-member panel of the court held that the APC breached its guidelines for the conduct of primaries and thus failed to conduct a valid primary from which Uba emerged as the party’s candidate. The apex court affirmed the February 23, 2022 judgment of the Court of Appeal, which upheld the December 20, 2021 judgment by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja. Uba alleged the election result was a charade and had not reflected the wishes of the people. INEC Declares Anambra Gov Election Inconclusive, Fixes Nov 9 For Supplementary Poll In Ihiala

The Returning Officer of the Anambra State governorship election, Professor Florence Obi, has said that a supplementary election will hold in 362 polling units in Ihiala Local Government Area on Tuesday, November 9. Citing the constitution, Prof. Obi noted that election had to take place in those polling units for the election to be conclusive. Charles Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has amassed the highest number of votes in eight local government areas (LGAs) in the Anambra State governorship election. There are 21 LGAs in the state and the APGA candidate, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has won in eight LGAs.
