BREAKING: Herdsmen Kill Two, Set Amotekun Vehicle Ablaze in Ondo

No fewer than two persons reportedly lost their lives when some suspected herdsmen attacked the men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun Corps. The incident occurred on Thursday in Sanusi Village, in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State. It was gathered that those who lost their lives were a farmer and a member of a vigilante group whose identities were yet unknown as of the time of filing this report. The operational motorcycles and vehicle of the Amotekun Corps were reportedly set ablaze by the bandits too. Amotekun Arrests Truckload of Armed Fulani Herdsmen Heading To Ogun, Lagos

Officers of Oyo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, have intercepted a truck loaded with no fewer than 80 men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen at the Iwo Road area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. According to a report by Sahara Reporters, the Amotekun corps  stopped the men, who were loaded in a truck, and a quick search revealed some bows, arrows and daggers in the vehicle. Apart from that, sources told newsmen that about 25 motorcycles in the truck also had cows. Upon interrogation, the men were reported to have told the Amotekun operatives that they were going to Lagos and Ogun States. Makinde Deploys 200 Amotekun Men in Ibarapa

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde yesterday released a security strategy to be adopted in fighting insecurity and other security challenges facing Ibarapa zone. The strategies, according to the governor, were arrived at after a meeting with security stakeholders, including representatives from Igangan, Ibarapa land and Police Commissioner Ngozi Onadeko. Makinde, who made the disclosure on his social media handle, said the strategies include deployment of additional operatives of the Amotekun Corps; continuous dialogue; documentation of foreigners, enforcement of existing laws and collaboration with federal security agencies, among others. Akeredolu Orders Massive Amotekun Recruitment

Ondo Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has ordered massive recruitment into the State Security Network known as the Amotekun Corps in its second batch recruitment exercise. Akeredolu was the first to launch the Amotekun Corps last year in the South West region to help tackle criminal elements in the state. Categories of officers to be recruitment included regular officers, intelligence Corps and volunteers. Commander of the Corps, Chief Tunji Adeleye, in a statement said interested applicants must be between 20 and 70 years. The Amotekun Corps had helped to stem the tide of kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.

The Ogun State Government has said that the full operation of the South West Security Outfit, codenamed Amotekun, will ensure that lives and property in the state, particularly in remote areas, are secured. The Chief of Staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu, said this when he featured in a live television programme in Abeokuta, the state capital. The Oyo State Security Network Agency known as Amotekun has said its officer, Ibrahim Ogundele, did not intentionally shoot a police constable, Fatai Yekini. Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has disclosed that his government, in collaboration with security agencies, are on top of the worsening insecurity challenges facing the state. He said security agencies, including the Ekiti State Security Network, otherwise called Amotekun, would leave no stone unturned until peace was achieved across the state.
