IGP Deploys Armed Officers As Abuja-Kaduna Train Service Restarts Monday

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Baba has directed the deployment of armed operatives to secure the Abuja-Kaduna train services. This was contained in a statement issued by the force spokesperson, Oluwuyiwa Adejobi, on Sunday. Adejobi said the personnel would be drawn from the police mobile force, K-9force intelligence bureau, explosive ordinance unit, and railway police command. The Abuja-Kaduna train service is scheduled to resume on Monday, December 5. Why Abuja-Kaduna Train Service Will Not Resume Now – FG

The Federal Government has said that it would be insensitive to the families of abducted passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna train to resume service while some passengers that were abducted by terrorists during the March 28 train attack remain captive. NRC Postpones Resumption Of Abuja -Kaduna Train Services

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on Friday bowed to pressure and announced the suspension of the proposed resumption of the Abuja- Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) indefinitely. In its 11th update since the Kaduna bound train was attacked by terrorists on March 28, 2022, signed by Yakub Mahmood, the Deputy Director Public Relations, the corporation said the resumption, earlier announced on May, 16, 2022, to resume on Monday has been postponed. It said a new date will be announced soonest.
