Ronaldo has joined Messi in the exit party as Portugal lost 1:2 to Uruguay. Uruguay took an early lead through a Cavani header off a Suarez cross. Though Portugal enjoyed a much greater possession of the ball, they could not do much with it.
In the 55th minute, Pepe headed in the equalizer for Portugal and the game appeared set for fireworks. Cavani’s second goal, fired in in the 62nd minute put Uruguay ahead again and Portugal once again found themselves chasing the game.
despite continuing to enjoy a greater call possession, Uruguay did not allow them make much use of the possession. In fact, Uruguay almost got a third from a counter.
Uruguay will now meet France on the 6th of July in the quarter finals, a match which promises to test the highly rated Uruguayan defense.
