Sports: Eagles Leave for London, Four Players Dropped by Rohr

As the Super Eagles of Nigeria prepare for the World Cup starting in about two weeks, the coach is whittling down the team to achieve the final 23-man squad. Before heading out to London for the friendly against the 3-Lions, the coach Gernot Rohr dropped four players.

The players that were dropped included current top scorer in the Nigerian domestic league, Junior Lokosa, Plateau United’s Dele Ajiboye, Lokomotiv Plovdiv’s defender Stephen Eze and Standard Liege’s midfielder Uche Agbo.

The players that left Abuja for London with the coach include: Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, Kenneth Omeruo, Ahmed Musa, Bryan Idowu, Tyronne Ebuehi, Francis Uzoho, Daniel Akpeyi, Wilfred Ndidi, John Ogu, Mikel Agu, Oghenekaro Etebo, Odion Ighalo, Simeon Nwankwo, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Others are Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Ola Aina, Leon Balogun, Shehu Abdullahi, Joel Obi, William Troost-Ekong, Chidozie Awaziem and Elderson Echiejile.

Victor Moses will be joining the team in London and Moses Simon will undergo further medical examination to ascertain the state of his health. It will be recalled that he had earlier been ruled out of the World Cup from injuries.
