World Cup: Russia’s World Cup Ends as they Lose 3:4 on Penalties to Croatia

Despite scoring the first goal of the match, hosts Russia lost the game 3:4 on penalties to Croatia. After Cheryshev put Russia ahead in the 31st minute, it only took the Croatians 8 minutes to level the score through Kramaric’s 39th minute header.

The rest of regulation saw no goals from both sides despite their best efforts. Going into extra time, Vida headed in the winner for Croatia in the 101st minute, sending Croatia into the lead.

Russia however equalized in the 115th minute through Fernandes, sending the game into penalties. Croatia went on the score four out of their five takes while Russia missed two of their five takes, ending it in a 3:4 score.

Croatia will now take on England in the semi-finals.
