Leicester city manager Brendan Rodgers has commended the character and performance of Nigerian players- Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho and the rest of the team in their draw with Watford at the weekend.

Ndidi began the match while Iheanacho was introduced from the bench as the foxes continue to chase a champions league spot. They duo had massive impact as their team shared the spoils with relegation threatened Watford.

Leicester went ahead through a fine Ben Chilwell strike at the death of the match before a fantastic Dawson volley levelled the scores with the last kick of the game.

Rogers in his post-match conference gave credit to his players for their fighting spirit and blamed the draw on lack of luck. He said his team deserved more than a point from the encounter.

“I felt we were deserving of the win, especially as the game went on. We showed a really good level of fitness. I thought we had spells where we had great control, Ben Foster made a great couple of saves, then we scored a brilliant goal.

“We dealt well with crosses into the box all game. If you analyze it, the luck was against it. It just hits the guy’s toe, he’s not aware of it. And then it’s a good finish.

“We take a point, which takes us a point closer to where we want to be.” He said.
