In a significant transfer development, Arsenal Football Club has reached an agreement with Chelsea Football Club for the acquisition of German international forward Kai Havertz. The deal, valued at approximately £65 million, has been agreed upon by the two clubs.

While the finer details of the agreement are yet to be disclosed, it is understood that the clubs have established an initial understanding that enables Havertz to engage in discussions regarding personal terms and undergo a medical examination.

The transfer fee for the 24-year-old Havertz, who exhibited an impressive performance last season with nine goals in 47 games for Chelsea, includes potential add-ons that could further increase the overall cost of the deal.

Havertz, who made his move from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea in 2020 in a transfer worth approximately £71 million, notably scored the winning goal for Chelsea in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City.

The impending transfer will see Havertz make a move across London to join Arsenal, as manager Mikel Arteta aims to reinforce his squad following their qualification for the Champions League.

While Arsenal pursues the signing of England midfielder Declan Rice, the captain of West Ham United, their recent bid of up to £90 million for the 24-year-old was rejected on Tuesday.

On the other hand, Chelsea is actively seeking to trim their squad size, and they have also agreed upon a deal worth £30 million with Manchester City for the transfer of Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic, 29. Additionally, French international midfielder N’Golo Kante, 32, has agreed to join Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad once his contract expires at the end of June.

Under the new ownership at Chelsea, there is a desire to prevent players from entering the final two years of their contracts. As it stands, Havertz, whose contract is set to expire in 2025, has not yet agreed to an extension with the club.
